Common questions
Which Consumer Commission should I approach?
It depends on the value paid for the goods or services: up to ₹50 lakh before the District Commission, ₹50 lakh to ₹2 crore before the State Commission, and above ₹2 crore before the National Commission.
Is there a time limit for filing?
A complaint must ordinarily be filed within two years from the date the cause of action arose (s.69). Delay can be condoned only for sufficient cause.
Can I file a consumer complaint online?
Yes, through the e-Daakhil portal. A properly drafted complaint with the right documents still makes a large difference to the outcome.
