Common questions
How long does a mutual consent divorce take?
After a joint petition, the law provides a six-month period before the second motion. The Family Court may waive it in suitable cases, so a settled matter can sometimes conclude sooner.
Can maintenance be claimed while a divorce case is pending?
Yes. Interim maintenance can be sought in the divorce proceedings themselves and also under s.144 BNSS, depending on the facts.
Do I need a lawyer to make a will?
A will doesn't need to be drafted by a lawyer, but a clearly drafted, properly witnessed will reduces the chance of disputes among heirs later.
